Molti, forse la gran parte dei piloti, non pensano che una delle cause di degenerazione di una vela è indotta dalle "chiacchere" che si fanno prima in decollo e successivamente in atterraggio, a vela ferma ma spesso aperta a cuocere ai raggi UV.

Guarda caso lo stesso problema che affligge il mondo delle mongolfiere ove gli istruttori cercano costantemente di sensibilizzare i piloti a accelerare le procedure di pre-decollo e post-atterraggio....
Ma quanti di noi hanno mai calcolato quanto incide questa variabile sulle nostre ore di volo?
Quando vendiamo una vela con 100 ore all'attivo quanti raggi UV in più ha preso? Il vantaggio è che normalmente la appoggiamo sull'infradosso, il problema è che il bordo d'attacco ricurvo la cuoce anche su un 20-30% dell'estradosso, già perennemente esposto al sole, oltre che a sollecitazioni del volo e agli strusciamenti del decollo.....
